If you've been thinking about porcelain veneers, the price is probably the first thing you want to know. The cost of veneers depends on how many teeth you're treating, what your smile needs before veneers go on, and how you'd like to pay. Below, we walk through how pricing works at our Bountiful dental office, what can move the number up or down, and how you get to see your new smile before you commit to anything.

How much do porcelain veneers cost in Bountiful, UT?

The cost of porcelain veneers depends on your smile, so the most useful answer is an estimate built around your teeth and your goals. At your consultation, Dr. Anthony Baird looks at your actual situation, talks through what you'd like to change, and walks you through what the process would look like for you. You decide whether you want to move forward.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of your teeth to change their color, shape or size, as the ADA's patient guide to veneers explains. Because each veneer covers one tooth, the number of teeth you're treating is a big part of the price.

What changes the price of veneers?

  • How many teeth you're treating. Veneers usually focus on the front teeth, changing the shape, the color and the proportion of what people see when you smile.
  • Whether whitening comes first. Depending on your smile, we might start with whitening so your veneers match a brighter baseline.
  • Whether alignment needs attention. If alignment is the real issue, Invisalign may come first.
  • Whether your bite needs rebuilding. When teeth have been ground down over the years, your plan may include rebuilding your bite along with placing veneers.

What is the downside of porcelain veneers?

The main downside is that veneers are a change you can't take back. To place porcelain veneers, a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of each tooth, and that isn't reversible.

Porcelain also doesn't change color with teeth whitening. That's why the order of treatment matters: if you'd like whiter teeth, whitening happens first, and your veneers are matched to your brighter shade.

Because veneers are a big decision, we want you to see your new smile, and live with it for a while, before anything is final.

How can I see my new smile before I commit to veneers?

You see a wax model of your new smile, then wear temporaries based on it, before your final veneers are made. As Dr. Baird says, "Before we touch a single tooth, you get to see exactly what your smile could look like." Here's how the process works:

  1. A wax model. We make a wax model of what your teeth could look like, so you see it before anything happens.
  2. Temporaries you live with. We make temporaries based on that model. You wear them, take photos, and tell us what you love and what you'd like adjusted.
  3. Final veneers you've already approved. When your final veneers go in, you've already approved them. No surprises.

The wax mock-up is a visual, and the temporaries are a trial. In Dr. Baird's words, "No one is locked in until they decide they want to be."

Can I spread the cost of veneers over time?

Yes. We offer financing through Sunbit and CareCredit, and we also have an in-office membership plan. Ask us at your consultation which option fits your treatment plan.

Your treatment can also happen in stages. Dr. Baird had a patient who wanted the work but couldn't do it all at once. We did their front teeth first with veneers and put transitional restorations in the back until they were ready for the final work there.

Why do Bountiful patients choose Millcreek Family Dental and Dr. Baird for veneers?

Because your veneers are designed with you in the room, not by someone who's never met you. The lab technician Dr. Baird works with on cosmetic cases doesn't just sit somewhere making teeth from a scan. He meets with you in our office, reviews your wax mock-up with you, and takes notes on what you like and what you don't. On delivery day he's usually there too, so if anything needs adjusting, he can do it right there.

"You're not getting a smile designed by a stranger," Dr. Baird says. "You're part of the design conversation the whole way through."

One of Dr. Baird's patients had teeth that had been ground down for years. Their smile wasn't what it used to be, and they knew it. We rebuilt their bite and placed veneers, and on the day we delivered their final work, it was the first time in years they felt like themselves when they smiled.

As Dr. Baird puts it, that's what a smile makeover is: "Not chasing someone else's smile, but getting yours back."
